I was born and raised on the California coast so naturally I feel really connected to the ocean and the beaches that make up the west coast. For my project I have two ideas that I feel strongly about and I am not sure how to pick one so I'll just share them both and you can help me decide.
My first idea is a newspaper. It would be organized where each beach would have it's own section in which new and content pertaining to it would be. I think this would be a great way to reach my large target audience as well as a means of communication.
The next idea is interesting to me because the goal is not about the target audience. Basically as a resident of a beach city myself a long with the entire coast gets very possessive about there beaches. So much so that beach residents have grown to strongly to dislike the people of the inland migrating to the coast occasionally. In fact the term kook or 909er is a specific term coined for these inlanders. I propose to make a series of propaganda posters about the bad nature and actions of 909ers.

Yasmine Afshar's Proposal
For my piece directed to students, I would like to create an installation using lasercut pieces of wood hanging in a series that look linear from the front. The viewer will be able to look through the areas cut out and see the wall at the end. Instead, the viewer should look at a side view and see the motion the piece creates as a whole. I want the form of the woods together to convey an experience taken out of time. I hope the piece will evoke reflection (looking back) on something that seems linear but in fact is not. Hence, my memory of soccer is connected to a vast amount of people and places.
My other idea is to use leather instead and laser cut through that to create something to feel. Sense of touch is important to me when I relate to my experience with soccer. The material comes from the leather of the soccer balls to evoke memory. The leather would be placed not on the wall but somewhere else in the space.

HyungKyun's proposal
There are a lot of genre exist in the
music; Rock, Pop, Jazz, Electronic, Hip Hop, Classic…etc. What I like to do for
my project is making series of poster that reflects the each genre. First I will
make a paper craft / sculpture with music manuscript then photograph it and transfer
it to posters. Each sculpture will be created according to each genre. Moreover,
I’m planning to make 3-5 posters for this project.
Jessica's proposal
I want to crate a menu for my imaginary cupcake store. I would like to strongly emphasize design elements in this piece, by considering carefully with its layout, typeface, color choice ect; so that people would be evoked by this menu.
My audience would mainly be female, aged from young to old or kids and their mother. It would be placed in the cup cake store, or distributed to people on the street, also sent by mails.

Arne's Proposal
It doesn't take much to retain memories in this day and age. All it takes is one click of a button and you've got yourself a nice pretty picture; Pictures are fun and all, but (I promise) info graphics are too.
Nicole's Proposal
Strong and sharp, shark, having characteristics that I lack, became my role model, motivation, inspiration and rest place. For this project, I will create a movie synopsis that is about importance of power animal for kids. Also, I will make a movie poster, which will be my main project, with water color illustration. The movie overall will be about a girl who's friend with shark and how she benefits from her power animal.
Timme's Proposal
I have color vision deficiency (color blindness) and would love to do a piece incorporating that. I want to assist people who do not have CVD in realizing the change of perception the condition inflicts. To do this I want be make a series of posters that have two colors which look similar to me and find natural objects in life that represents those colors. By doing this I show, not only my visual perception of what things may look like on computer generated prints, but also in nature.
Zoe's Proposal
Memory is very important to me as I am terrified of forgetting the people I love. To prevent this, I journal, but I have not always done so. My plan is to create a journal that will help inspire young children to write down what happens to them, draw pictures of their lives, and in general be excited about writing. To aid in this, I will create the journal, fill it up completely with stories from when I was younger, pictures that I drew, actual things that I wrote down. Then I will recreate the journal without any writing along with some sort of guidelines to help make journaling more exciting to the younger generations.
Bruno Suarez Bango's project proposal
I want to
create a series of flipbooks that explain (or at least show) the notion that
words are the ultimate abstraction because they do not resemble their
subject material and require previous education while the image or icon
requires little or none at all.
-The books
will feature flip-animations that will show how visually separate words
are from Icons/images, and also to graphically show how simplification works.
Mimi's Proposal! (:
My idea of the project is to make a book of post cards and letter
papers. The inspiration was triggered by the cute "thank you" notes I
received from the kids whom I taught English in a suburban area in
Taiwan during the past two summers. I would like to bring back the
genuine and personal touch of sending and receiving messages that people
of different ages are less inclined to do nowadays.
- boxes - containers
- stamps
- recycling paper
Angela's Proposal: Ice Skating
For the project, I'm planning to make a motion graphic about "Why Ice Skate?". The whole animation will be about the reasons for ice skating and hopefully in a humorous way.
The target audiences would mostly be athletic people who have interest in ice skating or those wanted to start ice skating but haven't. Small tutorial of how to skate may be included but mostly I want the audiences to find that ice skating is a fun sport and they shouldn't miss it. :)
